About the Directors

Mr. Renchen graduated Summa Cum Laude from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. While at ISU, he performed in numerous ensembles and had the privilege of studying with Dr. Daniel Belongia, Dr. Timothy Fredstrom, and Dr. Stephen K. Steele. In 2019, he completed his Master's in Education from ISU. Mr. Renchen has been teaching in the GCMS school district since 2011 and is proud to oversee the entire 5-12 band program. He is a member of the Illinois Music Education Association and is a graduate of Manteno High School. He currently resides in Bloomington with his wife, Jennifer and their two children, Luke and Cora.

Ms. Monreal has been teaching middle and high school choir for the past three years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire with a Bachelor's in Music Education. After graduating, Ms. Monreal spent a semester as a long term substitute teacher for the choir teacher in Cadott, WI. After that, she worked for the next three years of her teaching career as the middle and high school choir teacher in Augusta, WI where she had the privilege to direct the middle school and high school show choirs and music direct the annual spring musical in addition to her daily classes . Ms. Monreal is very excited to begin her journey working at GCMS!
