About the Directors

Mr. Kyle Renchen
Director of Bands
graduated Summa Cum Laude from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. While at ISU, he performed in numerous ensembles and had the privilege of studying with Dr. Daniel Belongia, Dr. Timothy Fredstrom, and Dr. Stephen K. Steele. He is currently pursuing a Master's in Music Education from ISU. Mr. Renchen has been teaching in the GCMS school district since 2011 and oversees the entire 5-12 band program. He is a member of the Illinois Music Education Association, National Band Association, and National Association for Music Education. He is a graduate of Manteno High School. Currently, he resides in Bloomington with his wife, Jennifer and their two children, Luke and Cora.


Miss Amanda Broaddus
Director of Choirs
is thrilled to be returning to GCMS for her ninth year of teaching. A former GCMS student herself, she has truly enjoyed being able to teach in such a familiar and supportive community. Miss Broaddus graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010 from North Central College in Naperville, IL with a Bachelor's in Music Education, and obtained her Masters in Music Education from the University of Illinois in 2018. While at North Central, she performed in the Women's Chorale, Chamber Singers, Concert Choir, and Opera Workshop. Miss Broaddus is a member of the National Association for Music Education and serves as the District 3 Choral Chair for the Illinois Music Education Association. She is looking forward to another exciting year with the GCMS choirs!
